The Twelve Apostles, Victoria

A visit to one of our most picturesque and beautiful places in Victoria. The Twelve Apostles is a unique coastal area of Victoria, Australia.

A trip to the Twelve Apostles is a wonderful trip through Geelong and it's surrounding townships to this scenic place. These Sandstone columns were formed through the process of erosion by the tides and the collapse of the surrounding cliffs. It's sad that these natural sandstone formations are being further eroded by tides, and none can say how much longer they will be there for people to enjoy.

The trip to the Twelve Apostles takes you through some of the most picturesque coastline in Victoria. All of the coastal highway that permits residential living is highly sought after, It offers both a relaxed mode of living combined with short commuting to the Geelong business district, and fabulous ocean views.

I took these photos on our trip to the Twelve Apostles using a Sony Handicam. These are stills taken with that camera. We travelled from Melbourne surburbia through Geelong, stopping on the way for a BBQ just outside Geelong, then continuing on thru the scenic areas on the way.

The coastal highway is bracketed by steep coastal cliffs, and offers only precarious footing for
housing. But many have constructed unique dwellings along this coast..

If you want to take a worthwhile day trip from Melbourne I highly recommend this trip to the twelve Apostles.

  1. Hi Terry. I just popped by checking out alternatives to Bpond. This looks pretty good. Cheers, Joe

  2. Thanks Joe. If you've come from BigBlog, I don't think that this medium is much of a compromise. I have only tried blogging on blogger recently and I really haven't seen much activity here.

I prefer BigBlog, even with all its problems.

Blogger has some fantastic features, but if we can't get others to visit, then what's the use?

  3. Hello Terry, Amazing you are here also, I saw at Rudy's page that you are here - I say we do get about, don't we?
    Take care, Margaret (jmbd)

  4. Hi Terry,

Welcome to my blog and to blogspot. I reckon that its far superior to Bigpond and its always easy to get into. I am sure that as Bigpond gets worse people will migrate over here.

I hope that you have your set up organised so that you get an email when some one leaves a message on blogspot.

I seem to recall that one of the 12 apostles was lost to the seas a year or two ago. I should take a trip down there before they all disappear. Helen was born in Sale Victoria so she is an ex Victorian.

    Cheers

  5. I've changed my mind regarding my comments about Blogger. BlogSpot is definitely superior to BBlog in all ways.

  6. Hi Rudy. Yeah, your right. Blogger definitely has the goods in a big way. It's easy to use, but if you have the knowledge, you can also press whatever HTML you want into service. Damned good.

I do have my email linked as you said, and I see from the emails, that you can click a link to go straight to the comment engine - wow, so good!

  7. Hello Terry, As promised I have come over to say Hi! Great photos are you into photography?

I see that on this post you are a bit skeptical towards blogspot after today how do you feel?

I have given up on going to bigblog and I still have blog friends over their.....sick of the download time and sick of waiting to see if comment was accepted..

Now with the new application it makes it so much easier. Don't even have to go to Blog it is all there on email....I really am into not wasting time and blogspot is it for me.

Off to bed early tonight, working tomorrow no pc for me....hopefully catch up some time Sunday or Monday.

    Take care

  8. G'day Margaret, sorry I missed your comment till now. Didn't look properly. It looks as though there'll be others coming from BigB in the near future. I'm going to be pushing for it as much as I can. Keep well.

Thanks for visiting Elle. Yep you're right. I've been sold on BlogSpot. Its got so much going for it.

I am a camera crazy. My wife gets so sick of me carting my cameras all over. But I'm afraid I don't really have a lot of talent for it. But I do love repairing and enhancing photos in PhotoShop.

I'll still be maintaining my site on BigBlog though, otherwise I wont have Grotty to blather to.

I'm off to bed now too. Only got 3-1/2 hrs sleep last night and I'm dead. My daughter is coming down from Bendigo to visit me tomorrow, so I want be as fresh as I can.

  9. God we are like sheep aren`t we...lol

I think Bigblog may have a few worries if we all migrate to here....Won`t be good for their reputation...

You have a very nice site here and the photo`s are fantastic...It`s been many years now since I have visited the 12 Apostles and one day I would like to take my kids there...

Well hope you have a lovely weekend and still for the life of me I don`t see a grumpy Terry...lol

  10. Morning all! Thank God for Saturdays, it's been a hard week at work this week and I'm worn out. not even hydraulic pressure drove me out of bed early - didn't get up 'till 8am.

Hi Mandy, you don't see me as Grumpy 'cause you don't have ta live with me.

As far as the BB having troubles - I gave up on it last night because it had it's weekend problems again. It was so slow, and I just couldn't put up with it.

My first impressions of BlogSite (we'll have to start typing BB for BigBlob and BS for BlogSpot to cut down the typing I think, and if BS starts having speed problems, we can type CS instead of BS - CS for ClogSpot) what was I saying - like Grotty I tend to wander just a nit! Oh yeah, my first immpressions of BS weren't good, I really look forward to hearing from prople, and I just wasn't getting any hits. Then along comes Joe, and Margaret, Rudy, Elle, and now you. I regret now my previous comments about BS. It's really much better than BB in so many ways.

I'm off now to investigate further the facilities. Maybe even read the help and hopefully see a tutorial. And if there isn't a tute, I may write one for BS myself once I get some experience with it.

  11. Hi Terry,

Good on you mate. You are now a convertee :)

Don't worry about people not migrating away from BB. Telstra is it's own worst enemy. There will be people from BB flocking over here in droves in future.

    Cheers

    Rudy

  13. Hi there Yevisha. About 10 people have turned up to comment on my posts, and I think they all know me from BB.

Good to see you here, and yes BB is just getting bogged down with too many problem (and that's aside from the inherent problems in the system
