Hi there. I bought a new PC from Dell and I've had a bit of bother getting on-line due to a combination of Vista 64-bit and the BB modem supplied by Bigpond.
Seems that Vista 64-bit won't let me use the modem's USB connector. I've had to connect to the modem with the Ethernet connector. This gives me a faster Internet connection, but I can't get my other PC on-line since I need to connect to it via the one and only Ethernet point.
The solution will be to buy a router, but I can't afford it, so I'll just have to be happy with what I've got.
Good to be back on-line though regardless.

Yah good to see you back...
ReplyDeleteHi Terry,
ReplyDeleteHope you get it sorted
Welcome back, most things we need to get us online costs, it's a good hobby though.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting used to Vista now, and I think I like it.
ReplyDeleteIt tends to be a bit strange at first after using XP for so long.
All the things that XP has are there, but not in the same place. Find their new hiding place is and remembering how you did it is the real challenge.
Vista is a lot more secure from hackers and other users on the same PC, but adds some annoying (but necessary) dialogs to achieve some of the more secure protection.
All-in-all it's a good experience if you have a fast PC, but I'd hate to try to use Vista on my old PC. I don't think it is fast enough.
Thanks for your comments. I know I'm a bit late responding, but Lorna has become a Facebook freak, and I can never get a go at the PC now. LOL
